Blue
Ball Properties
Delaware
Department of Transportation
Since
January 2000, Remline has provided public outreach and marketing
services to the Delaware Department of Transportation, the Delaware
Economic Development Office, the Department of Natural Resources
and Environmental Control, and two advisory committees made up of
over 125 business, government and interest group leaders during
planning and implementation of DelDOT's Blue Ball Properties project.
This benchmark, 232-acre, multi-phased project adjacent to AstraZeneca's
world headquarters is one of the first in the nation to bring together
public and private partners to provide input on economic development,
historic preservation and recreation improvements during transportation
improvement planning. The project is a mix of new roads, implementation
of ITS technology, transit upgrades, parks, and restoration of historic
properties.
Remline’s
value to this project has been the ability to work with all the
public and private partners to provide an overall, coordinated public
outreach stategy. A critical element of this strategy is to take
the technical language and concepts and 'translate” them into
language the public, elected officials and the media can understand
and accept. Remline's tasks include developing public involvement
strategy; obtaining national media exposure; creating meeting presentation
materials; coordinating meeting logistics; and writing and producing
newsletters that inform the public of progress and invite their
participation. Recently Remline coordinated the project groundbreaking
ceremony, which was attended by over 200 people, including Delaware's
Governor.
Remline
staff designed and hosts an interactive, reader-friendly Website
for the project. Our staff continues to update the site to keep
it fresh and make it relevant to the public's interests.
